Alx architectural glass is available to create bespoke pieces of both sculptural, functional and window glass for architects and interior designers. The process enables the translation of beautiful historical detailing from original buildings into works of glass art to be used within the new space ensuring that the heritage of the original building is not lost in the renovation or demolition of historic buildings. Architectural Cast Glass Process The architectural cast glass process can take two main forms.  Type 1: Direct cast In the direct cast method Artist Alex Blakey takes direct casts from an original source such as architectural detailing, natural textures or existing surfaces. She uses either a clay or rubber mould to take an impression and from this creates a reinforced heat resistant plaster replication. This is then used to cast the glass over to recreate the original texture in glass. Glass casting process Type 2: hand carved recreation or bespoke interpretation In this method artist Alex Blakey takes a freehand approach, first sketching out her design in 2d for a client before translating it into a 3D form using fibre board and fibre paper, hand carved with a scalpel.
